3 of the Biggest Keto Challenges Nobody Tells You About, and How To Avoid Them.
Written by Dr Harlan Kilstein. Updatd April 4th 2019
The world is going nuts over the keto diet, and it’s all for good reason.

Keto is arguably the single most effective weight-loss program ever. This low-carb diet helps people speed up their metabolism. And as a result, start burning fat as fuel (instead of sugar).

A simple google search is all it takes. You'll find thousands upon thousands of dramatic before and after pictures. You’ll see people bragging about their body transformations on social media. Celebs are showing off their bodies on TV and on the covers of magazines. It’s all over the place.

But keto isn’t perfect.

There are three signifcant challenges with keto that rarely anyone talks about. This short article will tell you what they are. And more importantly, how to solve them. So without further ado, let’s get started:
how to avoid keto bad breath

Challenge #1 Keto Breath

Out of the 3 big problems with keto, this is the most embarrassing one. Eating healthy fats may work wonders on your metabolism... but not so much on your breath.
The reason people suffer from bad breath while in ketosis is the elevated ketone levels. The culprit, in particular, is “Acetone” - a kind of ketone present in your urine and breath.

Keto breath may not be ideal for your social life, but it’s actually a sign that the diet is working. It’s also why those electronic “ketone breathalyzers” can predict if you’re in ketosis.

Some people try getting rid of the keto breath with sugar-free gum. This is NOT recommended. The artificial sweeteners may spike your insulin levels, raise blood sugar, AND reduce the ketone levels in your body. Fortunately, the solution to keto breath is pretty simple. Just brush your teeth more often throughout the day.

Challenge #2 The Keto Flu

When you begin the Keto diet and cut back on carbs, your body starts using the stored carbs (glycogen) as fuel. Along with those stored carbs, your body gets rid of a lot of water - and important minerals get flushed out as well.
These minerals are called "electrolytes". And when your body flushes them out due to Keto, it produces an imbalance. Depending on the severity of this imbalance, your body can show symptoms like:
  •  Heart palpitations (racing heart)
  •  Cramps in your legs and other muscles
  •  Constipation and bloating
  •  Feeling lightheaded, shaky or dizzy (like you’re about to pass out)
  •  Headaches or migraines
When the body detects an electrolyte imbalance, it stops burning fat. Rendering the entire keto diet useless.

The solution to this problem is simple too. All you need to do is drink enough water and supplement your daily diet with a good source of electrolytes. This will nourish you with all the essentials: Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium, and Sodium.

Challenge #3 Endless Math, Tracking & Calculations

Keto works. But it’s also one of the most restrictive diets in existence. It’s also the most difficult to follow. Mostly due to the insane amount of tracking, counting, and calculations you have to do.
To do the keto diet effectively, you need to keep track of every single morsel of food that goes into your mouth. You must also count the calories, carbs, and macronutrients that go into each meal you have.

And that’s when you’re actually eating.

People doing keto, often complaint about the long hours they spend looking at labels in the supermarket. It's hard trying to figure out if the specific items are keto friendly and which are not.
Getting the results you’ve always wanted from Keto
just got a lot easier. Here’s why…
Keto is not only the easiest to follow and most delicious way to reach your goals. It’s also the quickest way in existence to burn unwanted fat – and experience rapid body transformation.

Keto is everywhere you look… Celebrities showing off their new bodies. People in talk shows. In the covers of supermarket checkout magazines. And in thousands upon thousands of posts and videos all across social media.

People all around the world are raving about all the positive effects of ketosis. And sharing some of the most dramatic “before and after” pictures you’ve ever seen.

And it’s no wonder they’re getting such spectacular results. Because keto unlocks your body’s natural ability to use its own fat reserves as fuel. All while giving you energy and quickly shaping your body.

Even though a way of life centered around bacon, steaks drizzled with butter, pizza, and rich gooey cheesecakes and brownies sounds appealing…

Most folks never actually start Keto – or give it up within a few weeks.

And the majority of people never see the results they want.

Until now.
"You see, the idea behind keto is pretty simple. By feeding your body with certain foods, you can reprogram your metabolism to burn fat for fuel. Rather than using glucose (sugar) or the glycogen stored in your muscles."
During the first couple of weeks, most people will see a drop of (water) weight as the result of cutting back on carbs. This is a normal part of the process.

And once the body has been in a ketosis state for around two months, the brain will try to balance things out. And restore the natural order of things.

And one of the first things it will often do is to halt the process. And it happens even if you do everything right and strictly stick to the routine…

It’s called a ‘stall’, and can last for weeks, months, and in some cases, years!

Getting stuck on a keto stall is actually pretty common. And it’s also one of the most frustrating and discouraging things you can go through.

Especially if you’ve already experienced the rapid results that keto provides.

Because, when the scale stops moving for no apparent reason, people get confused, they feel angry, they lose faith.

And after a while, they quit and claim that “keto doesn’t work”. And who can blame them for feeling that way. Right?

Fortunately, things don’t have to be like that… not for you.
